Salisbury is an attractive Flat course which races between May and October, though the meetings at the height of the summer are of particular interest. The course is right-handed and fairly testing. Races right up to a mile are contested what is a near enough straight course, races over longer distances will go right-handed and quite tight.

There are 16 fixtures in 2012 including a number of high profile Class 1 races which take place at Salisbury each year including;

• CATHEDRAL STAKES – A six furlong sprint race in June with Listed status.
• UPAVON FILLIES’ STAKES – Another Listed race, this time for the fillies and mares over a mile and a quarter in August.
• SOVEREIGN STAKES – Salisbury’s best race, a Group 3 contest over a mile in August for the colts and geldings.
• STONEHENGE STAKES – A one mile long test for the two year olds in August (Listed Race).
• DICK POOLE FILLIES’ STAKES – A sprint race for the two year olds over the six furlong course in September, the last Listed race of the season.


Salisbury has three available enclosures to choose from, but always makes sure that all race goers are well catered for. The popular big screen showing live coverage as well as replays is visible from all sections of the course. The three enclosures and their various features are;

BIBURY ENCLOSURE – There are two viewing stands in this enclosure and this one offers the closest views of the winning line. Access can be gained to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure and the area has a choice of 4 bars, a coffee bar, 2 restaurants and other food outlets too.

GRANDSTAND AND PADDOCK ENCLOSURE – Previously known as the Tattersalls area, once again the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure can be accessed from here as well as the Course Enclosure should visitors wish to take advantage of the children’s entertainment provided. There are 3 more bars in this area as well as further food outlets.
COURSE ENCLOSURE – A nice view of the action is possible from here and again there are bar and food facilities as well as entertainment for children.


Guests coming to Salisbury have a choice of the excellent Moonraker Restaurant, The Conservatory or the private boxes for their hospitality at the track. The restaurant is situated in the Bibury Stand and can seat up to 130 people. Tables of up to 12 can be booked with racecards provided at the table. The Conservatory is nearby and is a smaller venue, seating up to 8 per table and 36 in total. The private boxes at Salisbury are located in different parts of the course but all offer excellent views, the Wilton Room via a glass front and the others from their private balconies.

Wedding receptions, trade shows, conferences, exhibitions, fairs, parties and more formal dinners are all catered for at Salisbury. With this level of adaptability in terms of hosting events and the quality of racing on offer here, Salisbury is a great summer venue for individuals and groups alike.
